Events

Methow Okanogan Beaver Project hosts and attends many different types of events throughout the year. From volunteer work parties to workshops for restoration professionals to beaver-themed education and activities for kids, there's a little something for everyone to learn about beavers and help improve the function and resilience of our watersheds.

Upcoming Events

September Stream Restoration Tours

Join the Methow Okanogan Beaver Project for an evening tour of our Bear Creek stream restoration site. We’ll tour the project site to view the active beaver ponds and dams, and our Beaver-Based Restoration project and riparian plantings. Along the way, we’ll chat about the incredible habitat, water-storage, and climate resilience benefits that beavers provide, and about how our organization partners with this keystone species to restore degraded stream systems. If we’re lucky, we may even catch a glimpse of beavers in their natural habitat!

Site tour dates:

5-7pm Saturday September 14th

5-7pm Saturday September 28th

Spring 2025 Workshops

We're in the process of planning workshops and trainings for Spring 2025 to share our organizational knowledge of beaver-based restoration, beaver coexistence, and beaver live-trapping and relocation. If you are a restoration or wildlife professional and you or your organization is interested in participating in a workshop, please take a few minutes to fill out this survey. We'd love to hear from you!

Past Events

Below are some of our past events. Many are offered yearly or throughout the year, so stay tuned for our next appearance!

Earth Day Festival

We celebrated Earth Day by teaching our neighbors about beavers at this fun, nature and ecology themed festival.

Process-Based Restoration Workshop

We periodically offer this hands-on workshop to other restoration professionals to share our knowledge on process-based restoration.

WDFW Beaver Relocator Permit Training

MOBP shares our beaver relocation expertise by helping to run a training where other restoration professionals can become permitted beaver relocators.

Volunteer Work Party at Cow Creek

At this recent work party, volunteers channeled their inner beaver to help weave boughs through our Beaver Dam Analogues. Many hands made light work and we were grateful for the help!

Coexistence Strategies Workshop

At this training, MOBP staff share our best tips and tricks on coexistence devices, from culvert protectors to pond levelers and more.

Methow Arts Festival

Our booth at the Methow Arts Festival featured a beaver-themed art activity: sculpting miniature beavers out of modeling clay.
